I've been in Orlando since Thursday at SQL intersection. Kevin Kline (@kekline) and I had a pre-conference workshop together on Saturday, entitled "50 Things Every SQL Server Developer Should Know," then I gave a "What's New in SQL Server 2014" session on Monday. We had a keynote together on Tuesday, and today my last presentation was "Top 5 Ways to Write Triggers that Don't Suck." Nicole and Madeline came down for part of this trip, and we were able to sneak in a visit to the Magic Kingdom on Sunday.

My favorite feedback so far came from the pre-con:

Kevin, Aaron,

I just wanted to take a second and thank you for the workshop you did on the very first day. It was *packed* with useful info, and one of my junior developers just raves about how much he learned from you.

Thank you also for the thumb drive as well as the handouts. I have gone through it in detail, making a list of action items to evaluate for our environment.

This is exactly the kind of feedback that makes speakers very proud of what they do, and makes them feel the effort involved is worth it. If you've been to a session where the speaker was able to make a difference in your work or improve your overall understanding of SQL Server (or any technology, really), I encourage you to reach out to them and tell them so. It really means a lot.

Of course, we like to get better too, so please don't be afraid to tell us where we need work or what could have made your experience better.

Here are the slides and sample code from the regular sessions and the keynote (but not the workshop):

KEY06 : Top Tuning Tools for SQL Server Presentation (.pptx, 496kb) Samples (.zip, 242kb)
SQL225 : What's New in SQL Server 2014 Presentation (.pptx, 3.9 MB) <no samples>
SQL305 : 5 Ways to Write DML Triggers that Don't Suck Presentation (.pptx, 512kb) Samples (.zip, 4kb)

Thanks to everyone who attended my sessions, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in Vegas in the fall!
