I had a great time at the MVP Summit last week. Caught up with a lot of friends (way too many to mention everyone!), tried some new foods (including Tempura Fried Kurobuta Bacon), and took in some great technical sessions. Next to the MVP distribution list many of you have heard about before, at least in my humble opinion, this annual event is by far the best benefit we receive as MVPs.

The most relevant part of the Summit, for me, is the content it will seed for this blog and for future presentations. Eventually. I can't talk about any of it right now; in fact some of the content I can't even label, never mind go into details. But I do have some interesting posts in the works surrounding a few things (the details I do show have been made public elsewhere; the rest are still under tight NDA):

  • Columnstore index enhancements
    • Clustered
    • Writable (REDACTED)
  • Hekaton ("in-memory db")
    • When to use / not use
    • Limitations
    • How this isn't DBCC PINTABLE
    • REDACTED
  • Next version of Parallel Data Warehouse (PDW)
    • xVelocity Columnstore
    • Polybase/Hadoop/HDFS
  • REDACTED
    • This will be a welcome improvement.
  • REDACTED
    • This will blow your mind, I promise.

I can't wait until the remaining information is public or you have a build in your hands. You're going to like what you see.
